Time to light a candle in celebration. The binding is complete. American Floral is now hanging over the fireplace.
Funny how putting something different on the wall leads to the cleaning and rearrangement of the entire room.
The summertime mantle.

I added a few photos for Lauren ... :-))
I made the binding from black wool. It is 3 1/2 inches wide and I had to sew some strips together long enough to go around the rug. All hand sewn on. I plan to do a tutorial on how I bind my rugs.... don't hold your breath though... you know how long everything takes me!
Thank you all for your kind comments and emails.... Diane... I will run a photo tomorrow of the wools I used for the background!! Promise!
Cathy,
ReplyDeleteYour rug is so wonderful! The background is so cool. It looks perfect above your mantle.
I think our weather is about the same as yours. Everything is so nice and green but the skeeters are terrible this year. Take care. Hugs, Lori
Oh, it looks good but you need to give us a full view of the fireplace :)
ReplyDeleteIs that extra wide rug binding or did you bind it with wool?
Hugs :)
Lauren
Your blog entry when you first showed your completed rug should've carried a warning that it was dangerous to the reader's pocketbook. Yes, I succumbed to your temptation and ordered the pattern on linen, no less. Love it, love it. Jeesh, another project!
ReplyDeleteThanks :) Wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteI love using wool to bind rugs, and I hand sew it on, too. I use it much more often than binding tape. I look forward to your tutorial. As you well know, I HATE the binding process and any hints to make it easier are most welcome.
Hugs :)

Great looking rug and I also like to bind with wool!!!!
ReplyDeleteCathy, your rug looks terrific and looks great above your fireplace. Wow, your room looks really well put together. It has a warm inviting atmosphere, a real showpiece for a magazine.
ReplyDeleteI binded my Childhood Memories rug with wool and it was so much easier than it would have been with the binding tape. It was an irregular edge so I really had no choice. I also hand stitched.
Hugs,
JB
