Smokey Our Beloved

On Thursday June 29 we had to put our beloved  little Smokey dog to sleep.  Our hearts still ache and  I can't even write or talk about it much without having to grab the box of kleenex.
Life is sure different around here.
He would have been 15 years old this Sept.
The vet said you hardly hear of diabetic dogs living to that age.
Even so.... we didn't have him near long enough.

Here I go.......
just can't write about it yet.
But I wanted you to know.

  3. I empathize with your broken heart, it is not an easy decision to make even tho our head tells us it is the most humane thing to do. Smokey is no longer suffering and is playing with new found friends at Rainbow Ridge. You will probably at will for a while yet, I did when my girl Shadow had to be put down. And also when my other beloved pets passed.

Smokey knows you were a good mom who cared for him. Rest in peace Smokey.

  5. Oh Cathy, I'm so very sorry about your beloved Smokey. After having to put down family pets, I finally couldn't bear it anymore so I haven't been able to take another pet in. I cried for days. Even though the vet said it was the best thing to do, I felt guilty.

Warm hugs dear Cathy. I'll be thinking of you.

  9. Our four legged family have a big place in our hearts--and take a piece of our heart with them when they leave us

  10. I'm so very sorry for your loss. I know it's one of the hardest things we ever have to do but truly it is the most selfless kind of love just like our furbabies have for us. I hope that soon the tears will be replaced by smiles when you think about Smokey and his antics.

  11. In the words of my dear vet when I had to make that dreaded decision for Pooh at age 11....he said, "just remember we have the option to be kinder to our pets than we do to our humans." I promised Pooh I would never forget him and would always have him near my heart. Always!
