Oh Deer! Oh Dear!!

Smokey Dog
How does that country rock song go?  Poor me.. Poor me..... Pour me another shot of whiskey!  All of this play on words has me thinking..... thinking of all the crazy things that have happened here  since I've done a blog post!!
You probably remember me whining about the bee stings a couple of weeks ago. Turns out that was the least of my problems! Although it certainly took the better of two weeks for the pain to subside from those stings!  I ended up with a least 13 bites in the crotch area.  That bee definitely did not like being trapped in my jeans and took full revenge while it had the chance!
Then....  a pelvic utlrasound and probe on June 7th showed a polyp on my uterus and thickening of the uterine wall.  This past Thursday I underwent a D&C surgery to remove the polyp and another scope to check things out.  A "dusting and cleaning" as the girls in my American Primitive Gatherings Group so fondly referred to it!!   I didn't feel much like doing anything after that until a couple of days ago and now that I'm finally feeling better I'm so far behind on everything I haven't decided where to start!
I haven't gotten the results back yet from the polyp being sent in.
Hurry up and wait..... right?

Today my little Smokey boy had a little surgery and tooth cleaning scheduled.  He ended up having EIGHT teeth removed!  Oh Dear!  If I had to have eight teeth removed I probably wouldn't have very many left! LOL!  The vet said it isn't unusual for dogs to have that many removed.  Most of them were smaller ones in the front that he said they don't use that much anyway.  Smokey is our diabetic dog so I was a little concerned how that was all going to work with him not being able to eat.  He had half his usual dose of insulin this morning before he left.  He is home now and seems to be doing fine.  So between the two of us we've been singing the "Poor me..." tune and hoping we get a little reprieve from any more surgeries for awhile.

Seriously it could always be worse!  I do count my blessings each and every day.
Dave's photo of the deer in the woods up there in my blog header reminds me of how talented he is with the camera!  He has also been our "Dear" that is holding it all together while we go through surgeries and health issues!  He's probably wishing he had a shot of whiskey and some time off work to relax!
Maybe in July!

  1. It's never a good sign when 13 bee stings to the crotch area is not the worst part of a story!! I hope you get your results quickly and all is good for you the rest of the summer.
And poor Smokey. Millie had 9 teeth removed a few years ago. It's not fun but she still crunches away.
I hope the rest of the week is full of good things.

  2. I'll bee keeping my fingers crossed that your tests comes out negative and that all will be well. Waiting for results always seem to take so long.

Poor Smoky, I'm sure that he will heal fast with your care. Wishing you a better week ahead.
Dave's Photo is so professional. It just take my breath away.

I'll keep you in my prayers dear friend. Bigs hugs.

  3. Oh, I'm smarting for you...with legs crossed! You poor thing. I hope that you...the dog...and anyone else is feeling much better. It can only go up, right....I'm praying hard!

  4. 13 stings in the CROTCH!!! I'd be a raving maniac!

  5. Hi Cathy, wow, that is crazy, stung 13 times, I feel so bad for you. God Bless you and the little dog to, may everything work out well. Blessings Francine.

  6. Cathy, I'm so sorry to read of all those difficulties, I hope and pray the results will come back goo, and that you little buddy will soon mend as well.

  7. Cathy ~
I hope both you and Smokey have no more health issues for a long, long time. It's a shame how they make you wait on test results!!!
    Hugs :)

  8. Cathy, YIKES TO THE BEE STINGS!!!! I am little behind in my blog reading! I have my fingers crossed on the test all good!... Don't they get we are on pins and needles waiting... I have had some girlie issues in the past, and hate the waiting... OR being told to call in 2 weeks they will give the results over the phone, only to be told to come in and be told all good, I almost punched my doctor, I was scared sh...... less... OLM

  9. Hpefully you and Smokey will be back to your normal perkey selves real soon......sorry to hear of your 'dusting and cleaning'. My Ben needs to go in for his teeth cleaning soon and sure hope he doesn't have any pulled.

  10. Oh that Dave! He is a wonder with a camera! I so admire his talent.

Sorry to hear both you and Smoky both had to have surgery. Hope you are curled up on the sofa together giving each other confort. Geez, your lower half has sure taken a beating lately. Maybe now the worst is over.
Please let us know when the polyp results come back. I'll be praying for a good outcome!

  11. Wow, Cathy...you've really been through it. One bee sting wrecks my world, so I can't imagine having that many and having them THERE, to top it all off. And then surgery...well...gosh. I hope you're feeling better, or all the way well, soon. You deserve it! PS Smokey sounds like a tough guy...glad he's doing well, post surgery. Oh..and it is a gorgeous photo, you're right!

  12. Oh my. That is just strange! How did the bee get in there, may I ask? Hope Smokey is back to chewing his treats real soon and every thing turns out the best for you too!

  13. Cathy,
Ouch! I think my being bit by a pygmy rattlesnake is trumped by your 13 bee stings in that sensitive area.
When I got my new Corgi, Piper, his breath would knock you over. Since he had never really had an owner of his own (he was strictly a showdog), I started him right off on "Greenies" and Pedigree Denti-sticks. I also have a supplement for his waterbowl which helps. Anytime you let a dog go under the knife for a procedure that can be handled other ways, you risk them not waking up from the sedative.
Piper's breath is so much better and I can see where the tartar on his teeth has receeded. Glad Smokey is doing well.

  14. Dear Cathy,
I hope you are feeling food and the results come back negative. Pets to Smokey. It's good you have each other for company.

  15. glad you are feeling better and your poor little smokey is on the mend.

  16. Cathy, what a wonderful photo of the deer in the woods. You have had quite a time of it, I do hope you are on the mend and sweet little Smokey too! Keeping you in my thoughts, Julie.

  17. Lifting you both in prayer Friend.
Wow..Beautiful photo. What a sweetie you are blessed with.

  18. Has anyone told you that you will find the silver lining in the most dire situations!1 You are awesome, and I know that it your "positivity" that will help you mend time and time again. I send you a belated gentle hug to help you bounce back before your big celebration day that is right around the corner. I am also sending my best healing thoughts to you and your poor pooch.

  19. AWWWW...bless your hearts! Hope you and Smokey feel better soon!!

  20. Oh gosh cathy! Ive been thinking of you amd hope u are on the mend.. And smokie too! Sendin lots healing thoughts and prayers my friend!

  21. Hello! I sure hope you're feeling much better and getting back to your perky self! I'm just catching up on my blog friends and just want you to know I'm sending healing thoughts your way!

  22. I don't even want to PRETEND to know what 13 bee stings "there" feels like. OUCHIE!!! And then the D&C on top of it - I do know what THAT feels like....and it isn't pleasant. I know I am late here, but still sending good thoughts and prayers that both you and Smokey are feeling better by now, and that your results were all okeydokey. Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  23. PS - Yes, Dave's photo of the deer is AMAZING!! I love the ferns in the background. He should have those made into note cards - or something! :o) Robin
