Better Late Than Never!

  • Photobucket
I'm in the middle of helping my Mom sell her house and buy another. It's all very complicated and at times I retreat to my studio and tear apart a wool jacket or skirt. It does help to settle my nerves! Do you ever wonder why everything seems to happen at once? Why after sitting on the market all summer with nary a soul even looking at it, my Mom's house suddenly received an offer from the first people who looked at it? Then, out of the blue, my neighbors who live a couple of doors down the street decided to sell their house. Just so happens it is a lovely house the right size for my Mom and the price is right. She had to sell her house first to be able to afford to buy it. So we settled on a lower selling price for my Mom's house to be able to buy this one before it officially went on the market. Surveys, septic inspections, etc. etc. etc. are now in progress. My head aches and my body aches. Stress has dealt me a low hand.

I've been wanting to share these pics of a rug I completed in Sept. A special little hit and miss primitive oval mat hooked with wide hand torn strips. It was for my friend Sue's birthday. Her birthday was in August. I think she'll agree with me when I say "better late than never!"

  1. Cathy, I've missed reading your blog. Anything having to deal with legal matters is enough to give anybody a headache. I hope that soon all this will be behind you and that you can go back to your normal routine and that everything goes smoothly for you and your mom as she settles in her new home. JB

  2. Love your photo's, so crisp and clear! As a full-time care giver for my dad, I know what stress can do to one's body. Everyone tells me to take time out for yourself, do something for yourself. Well that is easier said than done isn't it! But hopefully you will get through all you're dealing with soon.

  4. Love your little mat ~ love the colors and the wide strips!! I'm sure your friend does, too!
About the house ~ the buyers waited till they knew they could get it for a lower price ~ you can't blame them but it's aggravating! And timing is everything and your mom is going to get the meant for her! As a friend of mine says "this, too, shall pass"!! Hang in there!!

  5. That rug would be perfect on my floor, do you follow a pattern or do you just keep adding rows around the circle?

That sale of your mom's house should help to relieve some stress, best of luck.

  6. Love the hand torn mat. Yep, better late than never and I'm sure your friend will love it!! How wide of a strip is it Cathy? So nice looking, will have to try that some time.
Happy for your Mom that her house sold and she has another one to go in to. I look at it as it was all in the plan :). Hang in there, it will be over soon. Keep ripping those skirts and jackets apart, it will help with the stress!!

Happy your mom will be closer and everything will work out. In the mean time I hope things will go smoother and a little slower.
Take time for yourself. I know that is easy to say, but I do wish you the best.

  9. I think its wonderful that your Mom will be just a few doors down. That should make you both feel more at ease. You can keep an eye on her and I'm sure she will feel more secure.
But dealing with lawyers and realtors can be a pain. Love the little rug.

  10. Hi Cathy,
I'm glad your Mom was able to find a house very close to you. Buying and selling real estate nowdays is a major legal undertaking! Nothing can be simple anymore. I hope it all goes well and she can settle in so life can be less complicated for you.

Love the little rug! Great colors and very primitive looking. I'm sure your friend will love it!
